English Graduate Student Organization

All graduate students in the Department of English are members of the English Graduate Student Association (EGSA) by virtue of their enrollment in the program. Each year the students elect a group of officers to lead EGSA in its activities.

Activities vary depending on the concerns of the current graduate students and the EGSA officers. Past activities have included:

  • Hosting scholars and authors on campus for speaking engagements
  • Organizing workshops on topics such as writing paper abstracts for submittal to conferences, presenting conference papers and getting papers published
  • Organizing study groups for the MA comprehensive exams
  • Administering the Arnold Fox Essay Awards
  • Fostering community and planning informal social events for graduate students
  • Supporting the MCLLM conference
