Networked Writing and Research

The goal of Networked Writing and Research (NWR) is to support the use of technology in composition courses for Northern Illinois University. We also maintain a dedicated computer lab for English graduate assistants in Reavis Hall. More than a tech support center, the NWR also hosts a series of workshops and lectures intended to showcase the wide variety of technological advances available for instructors. First Friday

First Friday Faculty Colloquia

Every month the First Year Composition Program hosts an in-house faculty development workshop or presentation. These workshops address a wide range of topics including "Mini-Lesson Fair," "This I Believe," Looks at Books," "Screencasting," and of course the ever popular "Creative First Friday" at which our esteemed faculty share their own creative work.
