Integrating computers into teaching composition can be a mind boggling and stressful time, and in an attempt to easy your suffering as well as to offer you a place to exchange ideas, I have compiled the following suggestions. Some are a bit more complex than others, so I've rated them for teacher proficiency. Feel free to make links to the explanations or handouts that are offered here, unless it is specifically requested that you do not.

Basic But Essential:

Show students how to use the "F" drive.
Show students how to print in a lab.
Review "cut/copy and paste."
Show students how to open and use MS Word 97.

A Bit More Difficult But Just As Useful

Introduce your students to Posting and Replying on the web board.
Show students how to use the CHAT function of web board.
Show students how to send an e-mail attachment.
Have students "tighten" a paragraph in a file on a disk
Have students email a paper or a paragraph to a fellow student.
Set up an email chain or several conferences with posting chains.

Nothing is Impossible, and Everything is Good

Have students create their own web pages as part of their portfolio
Have students do basic internet search for information about their topic
