Using the Web Board

Web board can be a lot of fun and a good way of getting students to participate.  Central to anyone's ability to use web board is his or her ability to post, reply, and know the difference between the two.  Also key to a healthy web-based class discussion is participation throughout the week.  I usually have a web board assignment, for which they have at least a week to complete.  This requires that the return to the lab at least once and struggle with the computer, subsequently becoming more familiar with web board, the class web site, and computer labs in general.

Though I explained the difference between posting and replying to my class early in the semester, some students remain unclear, so I provide them with a visual and textual explanation via a web page.  They are able to reference this site when I was not around.
