Course Description: The poetry, with emphasis on The Canterbury Tales.

Old, weird, different, and fun, Chaucer’s writings reveal life in the Middle Ages among the nobility and in the street.  You’ll learn to understand his language and his times (the fourteenth century), and how he influenced the development of later literary genres and the English language we speak today. 

 

Course Requirements:

The class will have lots of discussion and activities, a little lecture, four short papers (1-2 pages), three or four quizzes, and a final exam.
