Title: MILTONCourse Description: Poetry and prose, with emphasis on Paradise Lost.
PRQ: |
| Detailed Course Description: A study of John Milton’s poetry and prose which will focus on its political and cultural context. The class format will be lecture and discussion but significant use will be made of a large number of Milton and English Renaissance web-sites. There will be quizzes on reading assignments and some group work. There will also be a Paradise Lost marathon during which class members will read aloud significant portions of Paradise Lost (rather than have a quiz); it goes a lot faster this way. I will provide study guides on BlackBoard for the reading assignments
|
| Course Requirements: There will be a mid-semester and a final exam. There will also be two short papers (500-1000 words) and one longer paper (2000-2500) words. Class participation, including BlackBoard contributions to group work, will be graded.
