| Detailed Course Description: Classes will typically include some combination of lecture, discussion, and a participatory activity. We will read a variety of Arthurian literature from the Middle Ages (Middle English texts will be read in the original language; other literatures in translation) and some texts from later periods, including the 19th and 20th centuries.

| Course Requirements: Most weeks, students will submit a one-page paper. Regular attendance and participation are required. Students must also read and report on an Arthurian work not on the syllabus. There will be two papers of 3-5 pages.

| Required Texts: Assigned texts may include the following: Sir Thomas Malory, Morte D'Arthur; The Alliterative Morte Arthure; Geoffrey Chaucer, Wife of Bath's Tale; The Wedding of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnell; Sir Gawain and the Green Knight; Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. |
