| Detailed Course Description: This course provides a historical and theoretical introduction to technical communication as a scholarly discipline. Our objectives will be to 1) understand better how theory and research can enhance the field of technical communication, 2) become better readers of theory and research, and 3) consider our own possibilities for investigation. You will be asked to read books and articles that represent a range of theoretical issues in the field, such as genre and rhetorical situation, usability, networks and organizations, rhetorical ethics, digital technologies, and workplace ethnographies. |
