Title: 16TH CENTURY PROSE AND POETRY

Course Description: Survey of Tudor prose and poetry (1485-1603), as reflected in the works of such writers as Skelton, More, Sidney, and Spenser.

Detailed Course Description:

This course studies non-dramatic literature from the Tudor Period (1485-1609) and includes authors like Thomas More, Philip Sidney, Edmund Spenser, and William Shakespeare.  This course will approach 16th-century literature as fantasy literature, that is, that during this period writers created imaginary worlds, imaginary people, and imaginary relationships which still exist as models that people have tried to make real.

Course Requirements:

There will be a short (500 wds) paper on reading assignments. Class activities will include some group work, BlackBoard participation, and a research paper. There will be a final exam.
