| Detailed Course Description: Graduate workshop in writing creative nonfiction. We’ll read and discuss contemporary and not-so-contemporary examples of essays, autobiography, memoir, and creative nonfiction, from the conventional to the experimental, learning to think critically about this centuries-old genre and about your own essays. What are the implications of writing (and reading) autobiography? What are the limitations of memory and of writing the self? Is it possible to write personally without writing autobiographically? |
