| Detailed Course Description: Through writing exercises in class and as homework, reading of classic and contemporary poems and books, and discussion of student work, this course encourages students to learn about written poetry and the techniques of the craft, and to create increasingly better poetry.

| Course Requirements: Response papers to weekly assignments in reading and writing, poetry drafts in response to prompts, regular attendance, thoughtful balanced critique, application of reading material to your own work and to other’s works, revision, exams, portfolio.
