Title: TRADITIONS IN WRITTEN RHETORIC

Course Description: Survey of major rhetoricians, theories, and movements that have contributed to those rhetorical traditions determining or influencing the production and analysis of written text.

The course studies the history of rhetoric from ancient Greece to modern times, with special attention to the transition from oral performance to written composition.

Course Requirements:

There will be a short paper (500 words) on each weekly reading assignment. There will also be a cumulative final.
