| Detailed Course Description: Course
Description: This
is a class in the craft and discipline of writing poetry, focusing
both on traditional and innovative contemporary poetry, addressing
craft issues and taking risks in our work. We will alternate the
discussion/presentation of essays and books of poetry with workshop
crits where students apply the knowledge from the works we read to
their peers and their own work to significantly grow in the art. This
is not a class in light verse, song lyric, performance, spoken word,
and/or literary scat. |
| Course Requirements: Requirements:
Attentive
and thoughtful reading and response papers to weekly assignments in
reading and writing, regular attendance, thoughtful balanced
critique, application of reading material to your own work and to
others’ works, revision, portfolio. |
