Course
Description: In this
course we will take a descriptive approach to the study of structure
and meaning in English, although illustrations and exercises will be
drawn from other languages as well. We will cover phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, and will
emphasize problem solving and analysis. The focus will be on
understanding language in general and English in particular. There
are no prerequisites, and no background in linguistics is necessary.
