Step 1. Review
the Rubric for Assessing the ePortfolio: (5 minutes)
Working individually, please review the scoring rubric for the ePortfolio you
will read. Each group has 3
ePortfolios. Working individually, you
will choose 1 ePortfolio to read and score.
Step 2.
Review 1 Assigned ePortfolio Individually: (20 minutes)
Spend 15 minutes carefully reviewing
one of the ePortfolios assigned to your group.
Spend the last 5 minutes looking over the 2 other ePortfolios
briefly. Before you return your small
group, please write down—so that you can identify for the large group—your
overall assessment of the ePortfolio and your reactions to using the
institutional or programmatic rubric.
What are some pedagogical
implications of the ePortfolio? As an instructor, what would you like to
emulate in what you’ve seen today? As a
WPA, what you would like to emulate for your program? How can these ePortfolios inform your goals as a faculty member? As a WPA?
What are the uses of ePortfolio for hypertextual and multimedia folio
thinking? How might this enhance your
current assessment process? What
problems or issues do you perceive in using ePortfolios for teaching and for
assessment? What are the technological
challenges you face in using ePortfolios?
How do the rubrics function in assessing ePortfolios? Similarly or differently than a traditional
portfolio review? Does this impact the
overall assessment of the writing in a different way? Why or why not?
