Typically, undergraduates develop a foundation in technical communication by taking English 308 (Technical Writing) and English 403 (Technical Editing). Students who are particularly interested in Web and digital communication enroll in English 398 (Writing for Electronic Media), which is cross-listed as English 532 at the graduate level. Both English majors and non-English majors may enroll in these courses. Some English majors elect a grouping of related courses that can be presented to potential employers. Non-English majors who wish to develop a coherent course of study in technical communication are encouraged to pursue a minor in applied communications.
