The NIU STC is a student chapter of the Society for
Technical Communication (http://www.stc.org),
the premier society for writers, editors, graphic
designers, trainers, web masters, and others interested
in communicating information in a technological age. When
students join the STC, they automatically become members
of the NIU STC.
Each semester, our student chapter typically offers
events such as these:

An open house with returning students who are now
employed as successful technical communicators

An informational presentation (or panel) by a
practicing professional
-
A visit to a Chicago chapter STC meeting where
students enjoy networking with prospective
internship sponsors and employers.
The NIU STC publishes a student newsletter, TechView,
which is written, edited, and designed by students. There
are also opportunities to get involved as one of the
organization’s officers or committee chairs.
This coming May (2001), NIU STC members will host
students from around the world as the Annual STC
Conference is held in Chicago.
