The Professional Communication site contains program information and resources for students and professionals interested in the fast-growing field of professional and technical communication.
The Department of English, in conjunction with NIU's Career Services internship/co-op program, offers internships for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students. The Internship Program can help you arrange an internship that is suited to your abilities, interests, and goals, and that fits into your academic schedule.
Writing Across the Curriculum
The Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program at NIU is based on the belief that writing should not be confined to first-year writing classes; we live in the world of language, and students should be encouraged to engage in expressive, academic, and professional writing and speaking in all of their classes.
Networked Writing and Research
The goal of Networked Writing and Research (NWR) is to support the use of technology in composition courses for Northern Illinois University. We also maintain a dedicated computer lab for English graduate assistants in Reavis Hall. More than a tech support center, the NWR also hosts a series of workshops and lectures intended to showcase the wide variety of technological advances available for instructors.
