Showcase of Student Writing

Background Information

History: Chris Blankenship, Jack Haines, and Kathleen Turner coordinated NIU's first showcase of student writing in 2008. The First Year Composition Committee sponsored the event, under its director, Michael Day.

Purpose: The Showcase provides a forum for English students to share their research and writing with a public audience.

Procedure: Students from various English courses create displays reflecting their research in a combination visual/textual manner. Judges visit every project to determine which ones portray exceptional research, creativity, and effort. Working in teams or alone, students explain their research or project to judges and attendees.
