All graduate students in the Department of English are members of the English Graduate Student Association by virtue of their enrollment in the program. Each year the students elect a group of officers to lead EGSA in its activities.
Activities vary depending on the concerns of the current graduate students and the EGSA officers. Past activities have included: bringing scholars and authors to campus for speaking engagements; organizing workshops on topics like writing paper abstracts for submittal to conferences, presenting conference papers, and getting papers published; organizing study groups for the MA comprehensive exams; getting graduate students together for informal social events; supporting the MCLLM conference and the various discussion groups in the department; and writing and producing the EGSAStencil Newsletter.
While the EGSA officers work on the details involved in organizing events and activities, all graduate students are encouraged to stay in communication with the officers. Let them know your ideas, your concerns, and volunteer to help with events and activities.
