2000-2001

EGSA were either partially or fully responsible for the following activities during the 2000-2001 school year at NIU:
- September 20: Reception for new Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. David Gorman
- October: Arnold Fox Symposium. Speakers: Deborah Zak, winner of the 2000 Arnold Fox Award and Professor Keith Gandal.
- December: CV Writing Workshop. Presented by D. Brad Peters.
- January: Study Groups for the M.A. Comprehensive Exam, presentation by Dr. David Gorman.
- March: Support of the Midwestern Conference on Film, Language, and Literature
- April: Co-sponsor of linguist Julia Penelope, organized by the Women's Studies Program.
- April: Preparing a Teaching Portfolio Workshop, presented by Professor Susan Callahan.
1999-2000

- September 28: Lecture: Bernard Kops, "The New Dramatist and the Social Revolution," 7:00 p.m, RH211.
- October: Co-sponsor of Maya Angelou presentation, organized by the CAB speakers board.
- October: Arnold Fox Symposium
- November: Round-table: How to write paper proposals for submission to conferences
- February: Hiring Process Workshops
- January - March: Study Groups for the M.A. Comprehensive Exam (run by Christina Scott and Teri Waters)
March: Support of the Midwestern Conference on Film, Language, and Literature
1998-1999

EGSA was either partially or fully responsible for the following activities during the 1998-99 school year at NIU:
- Round-table: Writing your curriculum vita
- Social: Disco Bowling in DeKalb
- Round-table: Writing paper abstracts
- Round-table: Presenting Conference Papers
- Social: Dinner and Drinks with the stars of the Academy Awards
- Support of the Midwestern Conference on Film, Language, and Literature. This conference was the seventh annual conference here at NIU and is run by graduate students from the Department of English.
1997-1998
Officers: Kit O'Toole, Sarah Quirk, and Sarah Brusky
EGSA was either partially or fully responsible for the following activities during the 1997-98 school year at NIU.
- A lecture by Dr. David Bevington on "Love and Friendship in Hamlet"
- Round-table discussions on topics vital to graduate work
- A reception allowing all graduate students to meet the new Director of English Graduate Studies, Dr. Mary Sue Schriber
- A Christmas social for all graduate students. The social provided an opportunity for members to interact with other graduates on a purely social level, rather than the typical high-stress academic level.
1996-1997
EGSA was either partially or fully responsible for the following activities during the 1996-97 school year at NIU:
- 5th Annual Graduate Conference on Language and Literature
- An address and poetry reading by world-renowned poet Gwendolyn Brooks
- A lecture by Women's Studies scholar Toni McNaron
