...Justin Gallagher's ...UNIV 101 Webpage
This webpage shows a selection of my work in UNIV 101. When I decided to take the class, I didn't exactly know what to expect. People told me it was cool and and "easy A."

UNIV 101 was cool, but at the same time I found that my instructor expected me and everyone else to put in our best effort. I didn't enjoy everything we did in class, but I liked most of the class activities and projects, because they helped me to think about some of the reasons I came to NIU and why I've decided I really like it here.

Below are links to my favorite projects, with explanations:

  • Journal entry, Week 5: The instructor asked the class to post a journal entry on the every week, and this one was about roommate problems. Other students in UNIV 101 had a lot of helpful things to say.
  • Cyber Tour: The class had to do cyber tours of different websites at NIU, and I decided to try the Founder's Memorial Library site. I annotated five links I liked best.
  • Interview with a journalism major: I spoke to Courtney, a girl that writes for the Star, since I've been thinking about doing journalism. I decided that she was awesome, but I really would be happier in broadcasting.
  • Paper on Kaffir Boy in America: Everyone in the class had to write about another person's college experience and compare it to theirs. A lot of people did interviews or chose articles from magazines or college newspapers, but I discovered a book by Mark Mathabane. He's from South Africa and I was curious. I didn't read the whole book, but about 150 pages. I'm still working on the two-page draft, but I'm taking it to the Writing Center and I'll post up the final draft when it's finished.
